today’s stimulation

Imagine you had a job in which you had to sift through forgotten or lost belongings. Describe a day in which you come upon something peculiar, or tell a story about something interesting you find in a pile.

on day four you found about losing something
on day 13 you wrote about finding something
if you want to continue our serial challenge also reflect on the theme of lost and found more generally in this post.

“Here is your new box darling!” Tina winked at me before handing me over the carton.

I pulled the carton closer and removed the plastic tape that was sealing it. The metallic scent told me that they have found the bag in railway platform or in some train.

The bag was old, and of-course the founder has been through it because the things were in a chaotic condition inside. A pile of unfolded dresses and opened boxed spilled out of the bag when I emptied it inside the carton.

It seemed like one of the boxes of my childhood, where we have stored things used by our father, his dresses, his pen, even his nametag was there. I still have many of its contents, even after all these years of waterlogging in houses, we managed to save some of them.

The difference was it was of a small child, maybe ten years old, at the maximum, I could see a cricket ball that has been played with quite merrily, a cap, a sketchbook with childish paintings.

I pushed the carton a few hours later, after neatly packing and labeling the things. I hoped and prayed a grieving family somewhere is not looking for the bag containing their kid’s last memories, I hoped that a teenager or young person somewhere grumbling that he lost the bag containing his childhood stuffs.
