For Sensational haiku wednesday held at http://youknowthablog.com, the theme this week is “habits”

Poetry potluck @ http://jinglepoetry.blogspot.com

aim and life

aim in life, goal and achievements
the mantra chanted to every ear
till the time of disillusionments
catch up and grasp their ear.

it sounds so cute set your aim, goal
as if its as easy as an apple
hanging in your very own apple tree
standing fruit laden in your orchard.

life is not a garden of fruit and flowers
where you can pick up your choice
with the ease of a hungry small child
life is not a garden of Eden to satisfy you.

Life is an ocean, our lives are but boats
it takes more than desire and grit to reach shore
we all start rowing with our own intentions
some dreams, some hopes and aspirations.

Then the ocean plays its own games
without any warning or decency
and our boat goes crazy dancing with us aboard
so…. we should just row with eagerness to reach.

And if the naughty ocean rips apart our boat
pulls us to its waves, tossing and turning
we should try to swim as far as we can
may be we can get a lift, or swim to the shore.

Monday morning writing prompt @ http://liv2write2day.wordpress.com, the theme is “super bowl”

super bowl

super bowl, a football
that uses hand and feet
hmph! that does it!
I don’t want to analyze.

Was never the one glued to TV
when our cricketers paraded
in and out of the green pitch
I was the one sitting out in sun.

I was always the nightmare
to my cricket crazy folks
one who could barely remember
the names of players, forget rules.

wanted to take a bite in hand-foot ball
could not get much insight
just flew above my head
guess I am just not sport addicted type.

    1. Thanks a lot jamie, its loving and encouraging words from you and other friends that give me a wonderful way to pass my time. That means a lot to a workaholic like me.

  1. I don’t quite know what to think about the camera in the pillow–my mind took a couple of different turns… 🙂

Love your picture of crimson and the beautiful poem. Also the peacock is very cute. You did it so well with just a few well-positioned strokes. Great!

    1. i love all living creatures, esp the wild ones, so i watch them in that manner, i dont have much specialized knowledge.

yes, i stumbled across its english name, it is oriole, what a beautiful name. thanks for reminding me. its call is awesome. 🙂

  2. Life is an ocean, our lives are but boats
it takes more than desire and grit to reach shore
we all start rowing with our own intentions
some dreams, some hopes and aspirations…

agree..keep sailing and floating and sea viewing…
    cheers.

    A++

  3. I love your sports one, too, Trisha. I’m no sports fanatic. The best part of it is I can sit with my husband and do what I want and he’s happy. Thanks for participating.

    1. Thats the best utilization of time. I really dont understand sports much, still i enjoy a few like tennis or world class football. apart from them…

  4. Sharmishtha, thank you for stopping by my blog and commenting. I loved, just loved, this poem! The references to a garden, with fruit waiting to be picked (a la Eden and other legends) versus an ocean, tempestuous and filled with dangers… excellent take on the prompt. See you on the prompts!

    1. Thanks a lot Amy. We all start our life with aim and goals, then life takes its own course- thats why life is more like an ocean to me- with its own life and power, i dont see much resemblance with a road- which entirely depends on our decisions (forget about garden of eden or any garden).

  5. So much me Trisha 🙂 I’m restless if I don’t have my morning paper beside my breakfast LOL!! 😀 Such a slave of this habit and they don’t die easily!! 😀

  6. With so many lovely comments I think there is nothing left nice for me to say, but that happens with the ones late to visit and comment 🙂 Sorry about that. Well, let me not go without saying at least something, and that will be Have a lovely day Trisha, it was a pleasure to visit and read. Smiles!

  7. Great haiku for Haiku Wednesday. So many of us know the sound of the paper being delivered for the day. Nice front door picture too!

So true about how life is not a garden of Eden. It can sometimes really throw us off guard. You tell how we should keep striving no matter what comes our way. I like this so much–it shows your positive nature.

Your Super Bowl poem–my sentiments exactly. I have no interest in football. Those are my thoughts too when football season comes. The only part of the Super Bowl that I watched was the half-time show with The Black-Eyed Peas and Usher. It was a great performance!

    1. when my family members were glued to the tv, watching cricket for whole day (x5) i used to loiter out in the sun.

I am surprised how i spend so many hours on internet these days 🙂

      1. i too got the idea long back, thats why you will rarely see me missing you for more than a day.

i sometimes skip answering the comments in my blog but i always keep the reading of my friends blogs uptodate, the only exceptions are powercut and laziness (extreme).

      2. I like your idea of keeping up with your friends blogs that are important to you. The comments can wait to be answered. I’m still trying to figure out how to manage everything I guess. And if I start writing, I can lose all sense of time altogether! 🙂

      3. same here, when i start writing/painting i rarely stop with one. that is why i maintain a very small list of friends and keep some time in my day to visit them, i try not to miss them ever.

now SIS is keeping us connected every day. The things will lull again from next month.

  8. you’re a very well rounded poet. you can express both deep thoughts and simple moments of joy, which can be very hard. well done poems 🙂

    1. I these days dont read paper in morning (even though i stay at home) because its so filled with morbid news that it ruins my morning.

In place of that i read it after finishing up my morning chores and taking bath. 🙂

We used to play “grab it first” at home, where half a dozen persons waited for two papers and every one wanted to read it first.

  9. The world’s in the newspaper, and sometimes, they’re biased.

A boat, a life jacket, and the ability to swim. Mix those with the tenacity not to give up when all three fail, and you move on and not flap your hands in the water waiting to drown. Of course, with God at our backs, but we must make the effort not to give up.

You’ve never fail when matching/comparing life with/to everyday objects. 🙂

    1. Exactly. If you read more than one paper and watch news channels you will be surprised at the variety of styles in which the same dish is served. 😦

when i commuted to kolkata from burdwan I used to read seven newspapers every day- and the variety of their serving always surprised me. Even the names of the people involved used to vary.

      1. Which report to believe? I guess it’ll depend on a person’s viewpoint, their beliefs in certain things and people.

I watch and listen to three different news report, locally, and all have a slightly different slant. The national news station is definitely propaganda. Well this slant is to the extreme. Nauseating.

      2. You know what happens ultimately? People lose the faith on authenticity of the newspaper reports. They claim that they have gathered the information from the site, then how can a man be 25 in one paper and 45 in another (i really wonder if a 45 years old can pretend to be 25 years old); in one paper the murderer is nephew, in another brother in law — etc etc forget about names and titles changing.
Recently a scam was blown in India which claimed that rich guys paying media to defame/publicise people. Some very renown names in journalism field popped up. 😦
Then framing honest journalists is a fashion in India- they are crushed very quickly.
These days its better to not believe any thing too much. Have you by chance heard that song- “I saw it on TV?” … those days were mirage.

  10. News isn’t about facts, it’s about opinions and agendas.
You were right in what you wrote.

    Will look up the song.

Don Henely’s Dirty Laundry. Love this one.
