My thanks again to all of you who have become a part of my life through this beautiful rally. In you all I have found the very best poets and friends. Whenever I read your works I take a deep look in your beautiful, sensitive souls. The faith on humanity and courage of human being increases.
God bless you all.
Now my poem for this week’s Thursday Poet Rally:
Flower in rags
Sitting on the park bench
Watching kids play
Dressed up like angels
Running, laughing all the way.
A rude refusal rang out
A sharp, cruel tone
Shattering the blissful
Lovely serenade.
I turned my face
Saw a sad scene.
A flower being ripped
By a bitter thorn.
A beautiful flower
Dressed in rags
Was trying to sell
A bunch of roses.
Some well-dressed mama
Thought he was too dirty
To come near her
Or her precious ones.
So she was applying her right
To make her understand
How unworthy she is
Of venturing so near her.
She turned to walk away
Scared and pale
Learning a lesson bitter
Too early in life.
Finally my nomination. An extremely talented poet, who deserves a lot more recognition. Lord Emmanuel http://lordemmanuel.wordpress.com/. A very gifted poet and a very humble human being. He too often pays the most beautiful compliments to all of us.
What’s more important, the exterior or interior?
Don’t judge a book by its cover. Howard Hughes used to go around dressed like a poor man, working at odd jobs, a major thing about him, he was a millionaire at that time. A little nuts some say.
I heard a song the other day by Arrested Development called Mr. Wendal. Nice song that holds the hand of your poem.
Watch we teach children mold their views. Insightful piece Trisha.
i agree. i dont go by a person’s exterior- never did and never will.
Such a lovely piece…
People are their worst enemies, don’t you think sometimes?
I love you more, Trisha.
Mine is here
Happy Sensational Wednesday!
hugs
shakira
thanks shakira,
i will certainly check because your blogs are opening mostly these days. 🙂 and whenever i can manage to place a comment i do it, to let you know that i came to visit you 🙂
your cyberhome.
okie 🙂
Trisha:
wonderful story, yes, I recall similar scene, parents are too protective of their kids, they look down at the poor or the less able ones, or simply reject and hurt the ones who are mis-fortunate and try to make a living on their own…
in this poem,
the one who are dressed in rags need our sympathy.
and this vanity hurts somewhere deep inside. should not we be kind toward those who are not as lucky as we are?
an inspiring poem Bassu, never feel contempt or shy away from people/ children because they’re poor or dirty.well done Bassu.
thanks for asking about me and my thursday poem; in fact I’m busy these days at work with lots of stuff to do but I’ll post my poem soon.
fortunately i have learnt that lesson so early in my life that i wont be able to shake it off in this life. thank God for my father, who taught this to us before we knew what physical appearance is.
what a perspective,
thank you for posting early this week and I support your week 18 nomination: Ibok, yes, he is very talented poet and deserve the honor.
Cheers!
😉
Emmanuel is too much talented, just like so many others in our group, but i can only nominate one person at a time, so……
What a scene for the children to witness. A well written poem, I watched it like a film.
thanks leena.
This is a cool write-up….I love your works, you are a unique poet indeed….
Emmanuel has excellence not just at poetry but every other ramification.
thanks ediomo. emmanuel is awesome so are you.
There’s an important lesson in this that many should learn.
Nicely done.
dear anthony,
thanks a lot. i just share my feelings with you all, and its so beautiful to know that there are so many people who feel just the way you do and they are among your friends.
happy thursday and namaste,
trisha
That is just so sad, the treatment of the flower seller. We are all human, all worthy, all loved in the Universe.
This made me feel deeply.
Good job!
children deserve so much love from us, the adults- even if they are in dirty rags.
i am happy that it touched you so much.
a lesson for everyone to learn, well written Trisha u are clever xx
dear william,
i have a deep doubt if i am clever or not 🙂
I am happy that you loved it.
People can be so horrible, it just boggles the mind. You captured this so beautfully. xx Lisa
I agree with you. they can shock you to no end.
A mix of Victoriana & modernity– nicely written1

thanks a lot marilynn.
I give myself time to get to know people… one on one. 🙂 It is a lot more fun that way. 🙂 Congrats to you again. Great post! You are very kind with all of us with your words. Have a fun day. 🙂
so do i. i prefer to know and judge one to one, and thoroughly.
its you who fills up our days with your warmth and humour.
loved it … simply amazing .. !
thanks viddhi. i am happy that you liked it.
ah…my heart is in those words…so many unnoticed, except when they are with scorn…
dear brian,
i too agree with you. mostly these hearts are broken in silence. without any audience.
warmest wishes,
You touched my life in a special way with this post, Trish. You may not be able to estimate how much this means but this means a whole lot to me. I am deeply honored…Cheers!!!
dear emmanuel,
i am happy and honoured to have you as my friend. you are an awesome poet and a wonderful human being.
happy thursday and week ahead,
Wonderful poem.
I appreciate the messages you leave for us always
thanks a lot Richards.
How most forget that we can all change places. I felt sad for the child selling roses and the mother who walked away. Fear.. I love this line:
“A beautiful flower
Dressed in rags”
Beautiful poem
Gerardine
thanks gerardine, its quite a common sight in india because we see these children everywhere- in rags, forced out of home to toil because of penury.
lovely poem..and a great message too..
thanks a lot. i will have to look for your url someplace else it seems 🙂
I love your use of the flower as symbol. True beauty is everywhere.
I agree. true beauty is every where. and children are flowers, they should be pampered and protected.
The early life lessons we learn help form the character we will grow up to be. though most are cruel and harsh, its easier to learn our lesson when we are younger than when we are older. great poem and continue your path to success, just so you know, the grand opening of my new website http://www.shoelessboywonder.com is this Sunday and i am thoroughly excited.
Congratulations!
you have every right to be excited 🙂
This is a fantastic achievement. May success kiss your feet every second from now on.
best wishes,
