I have never understood the ‘blame the vicitm’ mentality. I think it has to do with fear. People almost superstitiously want to believe they have greater control over what happens to them than they do.
The thought is idiotic, and most people wouldn’t put it into words, but it is as if they believe, “Something that terrible could never happen to me because I would never do anything to bring it on.” It is a sick thought – one that needs to change – but one that I see not only applied to rape victims, but victims of violence, illnesses, etc.

In the States it has been traditional to blame the victim of rape…as well as in other countries…another male ploy to escape guilt.
you know i am really sad to know that its same everywhere! i lived in the fairy land that things are better in countries like yours!

and down here a lot of rape victims commit suicide because they are the one that get most of the blame if not all.
